This piece was inspired by a Facebook post by Karen, a mom sharing her excitement about the effect of her first attempts at investigating words with her 16-year-old dyslexic son. I saw Karen's inspiring description of their experience and asked for permission to share. 

I add some context to her story to address topics that I think are not always understood about how SWI can be transformational for learning with older students.
